We eloped too!
Here's why....
We always knew a traditional wedding wasn't for us. We adore capturing them, but travel is in our blood and when you realise you can get married almost anywhere in the world, we knew New Zealand was the only place for us - where we once lived, and where Nick proposed.
We started planning a big wedding there but very quickly the noise crept in. Expectations, opinions, logistics and costs. What should have felt exciting slowly began to feel heavy, like the day was becoming more about managing everything than actually experiencing it.
So we cancelled the big wedding. Invited 6 close family and booked an Airbnb for a week of awe-inspiring activities to enjoy together.
Eloping allowed us to slow everything right down, strip things back to what mattered most, and be fully present with each other. On the day itself there was no rushing, no pressure to perform, just a deep sense of calm and certainty that this was exactly how we wanted to get married.
That experience changed how we see weddings. It’s why we believe so strongly in creating days that feel intentional, personal and true. And it’s why we care so deeply about supporting couples who choose to do things their own way.
